February 16, 2026Restart Prelaunch on Gamefound
The wait is finally over! Restart is back, and it's more fun than ever. We are thrilled to announce that the prelaunch page for Restart is now open on Gamefound. After a year of redesigning and refining, here's what you'll find in this new version of the game.
There were a lot of changes to the gameplay after receiving suggestions from various testers, including Amy and Maggie from ThinkerThemer, Alex from BoardGameCo, and Paul from Gaming Rules. We broke down the long turns into faster-paced, more straightforward action turns. This maintains the variety of combos and helps the game's pace, keeping each player's attention for their next turn. Players can balance their options according to the choices of other players. These changes made the game faster and more fun, and they added an extra short-term strategy for the next two or three turns. Another great change was interconnecting every action. Instead of having separate actions that award points and benefits, we connected them all. This greatly boosted the long-term planning aspect of the game, as players need to plan ahead to acquire the proper resources to maximize their benefits.
Another important part of the feedback concerned the rules. Many of you said that the rulebook was too long and not well-structured. This was mostly due to our choice of associates, who lacked the experience necessary to design layouts that would help explain the game. After completing the game's redesign, we entrusted this critical task to two of the most experienced individuals in the board game community. Paul Grogan and Phil Pettifer simplified the rules and made them easier to understand with a more fluid layout. At their suggestion, we divided the rulebook into three parts so that people can read only the sections that interest them.
Finally, we made some really cool development changes, too. We redesigned the Mind board almost from scratch to maintain its efficiency in handling cards and components, as well as to increase its durability. Many cardboard components were upgraded to wooden pieces or crystals to make them easier to handle, reduce fiddling, and allow players to focus on enjoying the game. Speaking of components, have you seen the cool child and adult miniatures? If not, here's your chance. Click and follow the campaign now to check them out and get two extra miniature sets for free!
