Road of Salt

Last weekend, YamoChori invited us to participate in a forum about creating a new game based on the Road of Salt, an old mountain road that had been lost for years but was reopened by this team of young environmentalists. We thought it was a great idea, so we went as Teetotum because we always support this kind of action. The game is based on the old salt road from the 19th century. Locals used this path to transport salt from the sea to mountain villages in the area. Pilgrims and other travelers also used the path to reach their destinations more quickly.

YamoChori is an environmental project that started in 2021 in Makria Logga, Etoloakarnania. It is an initiative that aims to create a community of people who live and work in harmony with nature, applying permaculture techniques, natural building and natural cultivation. This venture forms the basis for organizing youth exchanges, volunteering programs, local actions and trainings, creating a space where self-sufficiency, autonomy and freedom are core values.

During the forum, we had the chance to meet many beautiful and creative people who envisioned great ways for humans to better coexist with the environment. In this warm, friendly atmosphere, we took the first steps toward creating an amazing game through the Road of Salt. Many ideas and discussions led to useful results and now it's up to YamoChori's team to choose the path that best aligns with their vision. Drawing from our five years of experience as creators, publishers and board game designers, we tried to provide them with as much guidance as possible. Our presentation of our games, Age of Rome and Vacation to the Greek Islands, inspired them the most and we are really happy about it. We had the chance to play a session and discuss how to make a game run smoothly with interesting and fun mechanics for the players.

We hope to witness the next steps as well. We want to see the creation of the beta version of the game and the playtests. Of course, we are more than willing to provide suggestions and ideas for future stages of the project.
