The Journey of Salt Road

The creation of Salt Road has finally come to an end, and what a wonderful journey it has been! Much like the historic trail that inspired it, this project has been a path we’ve travelled together with many amazing people. Along the way, we’ve shared ideas, exchanged stories, learned new things, and made new friends who helped us bring this game to life. Every step of the process has been an adventure of its own, and we couldn’t be happier to see Salt Road completed and ready to be explored. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on this journey and helped make it possible!

Salt Road is a cooperative game that invites you to travel along a historic mountain route by turning the pages of a book. As you progress through the trail, you’ll encounter different places, challenges, and opportunities that will shape your journey. But travelling is only part of the adventure! You’ll also need to trade wisely, selling your precious salt and buying other goods to load onto your donkeys. Every decision matters as you work together to make the most of your resources and find your way along the Salt Road. Will you manage to complete the journey and discover everything this remarkable route has to offer?

The game is now available here, and you can download it and play for free! We invite you to embark on a virtual journey along the Salt Road and discover the fascinating history, landscapes, and stories of this extraordinary place in the mountains of Aetolοacarnania, Greece. Through the game, you’ll get to explore the route, learn interesting facts about its past, and experience a small part of the heritage that makes it so special. Whether you enjoy cooperative games, historical adventures, or simply discovering new places, we hope Salt Road will inspire you to turn the page and start exploring!

And if you enjoy your virtual journey, why not take the next step and visit the real trail? The historic Salt Road begins in Kallithea, Aetoloacarnania, where you can experience the landscape and discover the places that inspired the game firsthand. Walk along the route, take in the mountain scenery, and see how the real-world journey compares with the one you experienced on your tabletop. We hope that Salt Road will spark your curiosity and encourage you to discover this hidden gem of Greek heritage for yourself. The adventure doesn’t have to end with the last page of the book!
