Never Stop Playing
July 2, 2026Salt Road Blind Testing
A few days ago we had the pleasure of presenting and playtesting Salt Road with a wonderful group of new players from different countries and cultural backgrounds. It was an exciting opportunity for us, as there is always something special about watching fresh players experience the game for the very first time. We were eager to see how they would approach the mechanics, immerse themselves in the theme, and share their unique perspectives.
The session was conducted as a blind playtest. Players received the rulebook, read through it on their own, and then jumped straight into the game without any guidance from us. As expected, a few questions came up along the way, but nothing stopped the fun. It was incredibly rewarding to watch them learn, adapt, and enjoy the experience while discovering the world of Salt Road at their own pace.
After the game, we gathered everyone for a feedback session and an open discussion about their experience. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Players found the game highly thematic, and many commented on how naturally the mechanics reflected the idea of trading along the historic salt routes. One of the most rewarding moments was hearing that several participants became curious about the real Salt Road and wanted to learn more about its history and significance after playing the game.
This playtest was a valuable experience not only for the players but for us as designers as well. Meeting new people, listening to their thoughts, and receiving honest feedback gave us fresh ideas and helped us better understand how the game is perceived by different audiences. We are truly grateful for the enthusiasm, the insightful comments, and the opportunity to share Salt Road with such an amazing group. Experiences like this remind us why we love designing games, and they motivate us to continue improving and bringing Salt Road to even more players around the world.
